Human skin has roughly 1,000 follicles per square inch. Only a small percentage of them are active (anagen) at any given time. For effective treatment, the hair needs to be treated during the anlagen phase.

 

It normally takes about 90 days for each follicle to go on through the full growth cycle. It's very important to shave at least 5 days before an appointment, that way the hair growth proceeds through the active,transitional and dormant hairs. 

 

Avoid tweezing any hairs as tweezing stimulates hair growth and can take up to 13 weeks for new hairs.
